Rancho quicklift R51

Postby mako_gc » Wed Mar 31, 2010 3:16 pm

Hi all, I fitted a quicklift kit from Rancho, it was abit of a struggle but its done. The only thing is that the front is lifted. Rear has not been lifted, well, the shocks (RS9000xls)were larger than the originals and seem to lift the car . I think i need to get bigger springs or some sort of kit to lift the springs. The car bounces at the back . Could some one help me, if the car bounces is it because the springs are not long enough??And need to be under more pressure?

Its probably because they have more length to cover and they arent under as much pressure. The rears arent coil overs like the fronts so they wont lift as well.

Go to daystars web site and get the rear spacers for the armada. It will lift the rear about 1.5 inches. i did this with mine but it is very tuff to get them in as there is not much room to compress the spring to put it back together. Looks good thought. Will post pics as soon as i can :P

Do you have to use a spring compressor in the rear to get the spacers in or can you just unbolt the lower control arm from the knuckle?

I still needed the compressor to get them back in. Rented from autozone for 50 bucks. The only problem i had is the lack of space in there to work. Now that i know how to do it i could lift the front and back in 3 to 4 hours of lazy work.

ON a side note thought, I would use the OME springs you have. Yes the spacers gave me some lift but the soft factory springs are still there and they still sag with very little weight in back.

In the end I read up on "King" Coil springs, I brought a set with a 40mm lift. They sorted the car out, its fantastic the car rides better than it ever did! and it looks great as well the lift has really given the car "presence" I have 20" wheels at he moment but I am changing them for 22 " Miami F15. So it should have even more presence!!! Also fitting a Rancho "all ride" so i can ajust the suspension settings from inside the cab!!
