I'm about 99.9% certain that they did, although it was most likely the first model year for the R51, so 2005? I only remember that because of a few discussions about the whole point of having the Off Road if it is only 2wd.Captain Smoke Eater wrote:skwerl wrote:I have a 2005 Pathfinder SE 2WD (possibly off-road model - not sure)

That's entirely different. Mine has hill descent control also, but that's only for 4LO, as in incredibly slow speeds. I've used it a number of times and, while it makes enough noise to wake the dead, works extremely well.skwerl wrote:FWIW...Some other SUVs have descent control (the 4runner comes to mind) but it's documented.
Point taken. I meant to note that I thought it was only on the 4runner 4WD model. I had a 2WD 4runner and this was in the manual is why I remember.NVSteve wrote:That's entirely different. Nah, the downshifting is normal. I've seen it mentioned before in other threads here as well, so I really woulnd't worry about it. Just count yourself lucky that it does actually work for you.skwerl wrote: I wouldn't be making a big issue out of this but I just found out about the ATF/antifreeze contamination issue and don't want my tranny to be ruined!
The only reason I mentioned it is because for MY 2005 the Kelly Blue Book website asks you to select:Captain Smoke Eater wrote:I did some reseach and could only find this
S in 2x4 and 4x4
SE in 2x4 and 4x4 V6
SE in 2x4 and 4x4 V8
SE OFFROAD in 4x4 V6 only
LE in 2x4 and 4x4 V6 or V8
I could not find anywere that the R51 came in 2x4 OFFROAD.
