Noisy AC Compressor Pulley?

Postby nicky2wotimes » Thu Jun 17, 2010 9:52 am

2000 Pathfinder SE 4x4

I have figured out the squeaking noise I have is coming from my AC compressor pulley. My question is.. Does anyone know if I can replace the pulley and or a bearing or am I going to have to replace the whole compressor to stop the noise? Or is there another solution, besides taking off the belt?

The noise you refer to is it :

- On cold start up usually when it is wet out
- Goes away once the truck warms up

???

I would love to get rid of mine, from what I have heard it is a common problem and no real solution without spending lots of money. Please tell if you find a cheap solution, that is if your symptoms are one in the same!

The noise always there if the truck is running. It has gotten worse over time (louder). AC still works good. If it was not 110 heat index I would probably just take off the belt. New compressor is around $500, I am pretty sure that will fix it, but I would like to just fix the one I have if possible.
