Lower Control Link Recall?

Postby Budrbean » Sat Jul 17, 2010 5:08 pm

Anyone know anything about a recall on something called the lower control link? I got a letter sent to my grandmothers (my old address). She called me and tried to tell me about it but she couldnt really tell me what it was about. Anyone else get a notice this week?

Budrbean, did you have one of these parts replaced at a dealership or did you purchase one for a repair?
This sounds (to me) like a recall campaign for parts sold "as replacement parts", as opposed to parts installed prior to the sale of a new vehicle

lsmith,

On a 2010? And they replaced them all? That does not seem to align with the recall as posted. That states these are service parts, not OEM. DId you have all your LCA's replaced at some point? Or is the phrasing of the recall bogus?

Please clarify, for the good of the community :).

If yours were OEM and replaced, methinks my 09 should make a stealership visit.

I didn't know there were seperate notices. I just received the Recall letter stating that my 2010 pathy needed to be checked for possible lower control arm recall. It said something about some of the welds are not in spec. I took the notice and Pathy to the dealership. A good friend and client is the Master Tech there. He pulled the recall notice, checked some type of numbers on each lower control arm. All four fell into the recall and they ordered the parts. They stapled my recall notice to the workorder, so I do not have the actual notice on hand. The dealership called Friday and told me the parts were in. He said to prepare for them to have my vehicle for the full day, for all four lower control arms will be replaced. I know this might not help much,,but this is all the information I have at this time. I will deff. report back here after the work is done and I receive more details..

I just received notice this week about mine and they are OEM, not replacement. This must apply to non-replacement parts as well. I would expect that replacement parts are being made to the same specs as OEM parts are so it's not surprising that it applies to both. I don't have the notice with me to post the #'s but I'll try an remember too this weekend.

EDIT: False alarm on my part. I read the notice this weekend and it does apply only to replacement parts.

My 2010 Pathy goes in Tuesday morning (8/3) for the lower link replacement. I will be there all day but will try to update the procedure when I return or on Wed...
