air filter hose question

Just replaced air filter and noticed a hose attached on the outside of housing that stops right there.The end of the hose is not capped and I can't find another hose dangling nearby.Is this how it is supposed to be on an 07 pathfinder?Thanks

That's the front diff breather hose.

Nah, not connected to anythin. Keep it up high so water can't get into when you are going through water.
