I'm about to purchase my first Pathfinder, and actually my first SUV. It's a 2009 SE.

I'm in Colorado, and looking forward to some public trails. Does anyone have any recommendations for a 4X4 newbie? Where to go, what to do (to the PF before I take it off-road), etc?

If you really want to get into Colorado off-roading, you'd be happier driving Xterra...(if you wanted to stick w/ Nissan family). You'd have a lot more options to modify Xterra than Pathfinder...to more off-road worthy.

If you're somehow capable of staying on newbie trails only (I couldn't), then pathfinder will do...

You might actually want to buy one of those books before buying pathfinder, and see what easy/moderate/hard trails require. And, decide if pathfinder still suits your needs.

I got it! A beautiful silver 2009 SE. I spent the whole evening getting intentionally lost, so I haven't taken pics yet.

My first SUV and I freakin love it! Such a smooth ride, and oh how I missed the power of a V6. My last V6 was a 3.2 Acura. I've been missing that car since I traded it in... until today!

Welcome to the forum.

Check out this forum link... This is a great trail you can run with a near stock Pathfinder. In fact, the only off road upgrade mine has so far is good tires.
