tire pressure sensors

Postby JAHBLESSINGS » Sat Feb 13, 2010 5:34 am

i took the tpms from the oem rims while i wait on my gunners to arrive. i installed regular valve stems and i was expecting the tpms light to be glaring at me the whole time. the light did not come on at all. i know that other vehicles that have the tpms removed the light glares non stop untill you put them back in. anyone experience this besides me?

My TPMS light is on, was on the first time. I wonder why yours is still off?

i have the sensors in the center console so i'm wondering if that is why it's off.

Not sure.. I thought the sensors have to be under pressure to work, so I am going to put mine in console and drive for a while and see if light goes off.

Cause one was not working when the weather got cold, set the light off, tire guy put the scanner up to sensors and only one would not read.. so when i got new wheels and tires, i had them removed, I do not regret it.

most tpms do the same thing when the temperature drops. all you would have to do is add 34psi of air and drive for about 5 mins to reset and turn off the light.

No, the one sensor was dead, as in no signal, dead battery... or? bad electronics..

My light was on the day I bought mine. dealer took me back in to the bay and they did some kind of scan on the tpms with a handheld computer and the left front was not scaning, he punched in some code on the hand held turned the truck back on and it worked and has ever since...

my wifes indicator went off recently on her 06 path

why the hell are these so sensitive? it's hard to get a 100% accurate reading off your traditional tire pressure gauge. from what i can tell, her tires are about as close as i can get em.

any ideas how to get this little sucker off, or should i just keep trying to get em as close as i can get on the psi?

Its not extremely sensitive actually, mine only came on after the pressure dropped below 28PSI, and when i put air in,the light still stayed on. so i thought i had a faulty sensor, so decided to put air in again but this time from a different gas station, the light went off immediately.

Later found out the first gas statiion i went to had a faulty air compressor.

ya. i guess i'll keep on trying to get em perfectly level. most are at around 32-35, i think. thanks :?

My sensor turns on around 28psi. Going over 32 does not seem to matter. I've had as much at 38psi in the tires with no light on.

I believe the sensors in the pathfinder are only used to determine low pressure and not over inflation.

They turn on at 60-65psi... I have my REV02s inflated to 55-58psi, so when the tires heat up, and the pressure goes up, my light turns on. No beep though.
