Hi all!

So I get a P0420 Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (bank 1) on my 2005 Pathy. Is bank 1 the passenger side?

any updates with a fix? I had this code once but it has not come back. my rear o2 on that side reads lean, already replaced it and no change. I think I may have a small leak at the flange before the rear O2. Let me know what you end up coming up with. Thanks!

If by lean, you mean steady below 450mV......thats normal and wont give you a cat code. Actually indicates good cat operation. Cycling to close to the threshold compared to the front will cause the code.

dropped off the pathy at the dealer tonight. service advisor will let me know what the fix will be. however, he did tell me that bank 1 is the driver side. that cat was replaced a month and half back. maybe the o2 sensor is bad?

I never said what it was reading....I said it was reading lean.
It reads .29v always with minimal to no fluctuation regardless of creating a lean or rich condition to check if the reading changes.
The other side reads normal and will fluctate accordingly.

Good luck and let us know Ferds!

got the pathy back from the dealership this afternoon. they replaced the cat converter. it was still under 8/80000 so it was replaced no charge to me. now i have two new cats on the pathy. would have cost me a little over $2000 (both cats) if i was over the warranty.

so to sum up all the repairs/replacements from the beginning of summer this year:

IPDM
Fuel Sending Unit
Cat Converters
Oil Pressure Sensor
Tranny bypass
