2010 Nissan PF LE 4x4 noises

Postby jimmypath » Tue Nov 02, 2010 9:35 am

Ok, is this normal and if not what are possible solutions if you guys know.

When I turn-off car. for a few seconds it makes ping noises. sounds like its coming from underneath and from more than one spot?

Thanks for any ideas or suggestions

Yes, I think it is normal. From what I have read this is coming from the heat shields and the cat converter as they are very hot. I have had a few different cars that have done this, not just Nissans

Thanks. I hope your take is correct. I will monitor for now and see what dealer may have to say as well. But I don't trust anything that they would say anyways.

Don't worry it's very normal the exhaust tubing gets hot then exspands so when you shut it off it starts to cool causeing it to contract and thats when it pings.

I bought a new Pathfinder a few weeks ago and mine does the same thing. As others have stated, it's just the exhaust and heat shields, and nothing to be concerned about.

Thanks all for your insight.

Since you guys are very knowledgable. Where can i buy All weather mats for my 2010 model?

Looks like Nissan OEM is changing. So is weathertech.com good?
