Radio upgrade recommendation for stock radio

Postby techboy » Fri Nov 05, 2010 5:26 pm

Hello All,

Just purchased a used 2008 Pathfinder S a couple weeks ago. Had XM in my previous car and this one does not. This has the stock low-end radio without any options(single CD). went out and got an XM add on radio with the FM transmitter and the sound quality is not good.

So, I was browsing around looking for a way to connect up an Aux to this radio and have determined that it will be a lot easier to pick up an after market double din radio with an aux input.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to what I should purchase and install that will have the best "finished" look?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide...

Check out the NAV, GPS, Audio, Electronics, section. There are a few posts in there of double-din installs. The install is pretty basic. Find a double din that has the features you are interested in and just make sure you get the install and wiring kits too.

I went with a JVC arsenal from Crutchfield for 2006 SE Pathy. I did the install myself and think it looks properly finished.

I got the pio FH-P800bt double din sitting at home waiting to be installed in my truck. Its a pretty kick arse HU if you ask me. My only gripes with it is that she is lit up with blue leds while everything in our trucks are amber. But in your case I'm guessing you do not have the dual AC, just the rotary dials right? I think the deck would look nice in that set up.
