I find battery life is relative to vehicle maintenance. If you don't check the water/acid levels in the battery and the level falls below the top of the lead plates, the battery will fail prematurely. Simple things like keeping the connections clean and free of corrosion and adding distilled water when the battery level is low, and not running accessories while the engine isn't running will dramatically extended the life of any battery.
