Gas Mileage

Postby pathology » Tue Dec 07, 2010 9:44 am

Hi all,

I've searched around, but can't find a thread where everyone chimes in with their gas mileage, so I thought I'd start one. So, the big question, what gas mileage do you get???

Driving: Mixed city and highway
Mileage: 16.5
Year and Model: 2008 SE

Ahem...

Well, guess the search is only as good as the searcher. Scanning the other forums, it seems everyone gets around 15-18 in a mix, so I don't feel too bad. I'm thinking of getting a cold air dump, maybe that will help a little!

In the 44k miles I've driven mine, I'm at about 16.4 overall city/hwy combined. Most of that is in altitudes between 4200-13000' +.

Usually 10.8 - 11.6L/100km in the summer.

My first actual winter in the Pathfinder and it's now 14L/100km. :(

Most of my driving is 50/50 city/hwy.

I used to get mileage like that... I'm still trying to figure out if my tire change is the culprit or if I have something more serious on my hands.

Mine hovers around 15-17L/100km now.

This is awesome info, thanks. I'm definitely adding a K&N cold air intake.

For comparison purposes, a parallel discussion over at CF:

Reason I'm so interested, I used to own a Xterra, and it got 20 city, 25 highway, I averaged 21.5. I'm concluding that the major factor must be weight, as I can't imagine there is any more friction, or wind resistance. The other forum posted deals more with Frontiers, where the wind resistance comes into play, and the weight less.

Essentially, it is what it is. I knew I'd be in the 15-18 ballpark, and that's where I am, but it's interesting to discuss. Thanks, you all rock. Seriously, I've only been on the forum a few weeks, but there is so much interesting stuff on here! So many good modifications, service info, great discussions, it's worth having the Pathfinder just to chat!

Al. :D

I stay right around 18 MPG with mixed driving. This is based on the in dash computer and backed up by hand calculation everytime i fill up.

I can stay around the 20 MPG at around 75 MPH on flat interstate.

Only mod is Nismo CAI.

Seems like the Xterra sits a little further off the ground and has more protruding roof rack. It's also quite a bit lighter. I'm not sure on the gearing but that could also play into the mpg.
