Passenger power window acting funny

Postby Junior » Fri Dec 24, 2010 11:46 pm

My 08 front passenger window has been acting funny lately. Not sure if it's due to the colder weather or not.

From the driver side console I hit the passenger window button. The express option won't work, but if I gently press the button (non-express mode) the window will go down.

It's happened to me twice in the past couple of weeks. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes not.
Hasn't happened when using the passenger side window button yet, but to be honest that button is rarely used.
All the other windows seems to operate fine.

Anyone else had this issue? I'm thinking it's the actual switch that's either wearing out of faulty.

On my 05, only the drivers side has 'express' mode. I find that when the temp dips below -10C, express mode doesn't work at all, though I have no issue if I just hold the switch and open/close the window without express mode.

Has anything spilled into the switches? I had a bottle of pop explode when I opened it. About 5,000 miles later the driver window switch wouldn't work in express up/down. Then it stopped working entirely. Took the switches out and sprayed in some electronic cleaner, fixed the issue right up.

Nothing has spilled into the switches (to my knowledge) and it works fine from the passenger side.

I'll pop the switch cover off and take a look at the connectors to make sure everything looks good before asking the dealer.

Thanks all!

My 07 did this off and on for a while then quit working compleatly one day.........sucked that the window was 1/2 way down when it quit too. Took it in under waranty & had the drivers switch panel replaced ,and its worked fine every since.

I'm actually having the exact same problem now. First it started with the main switch not working for the front passenger "Express Button" On the front passenger button switch it works fine. Only on the main switch (driver switches) and only for the express up/down. It works fine if I hold it half way. Now, the front passenger works fine from main switch.

However, the rear passenger window (driver side) stopped working from main window switch...lol It will go down from main switch but won't go up. Works fine up/down on the passenger door itself.

Gonna take out the switch and play with it, otherwise, looks like I'll have to replace the main switch.
