Lower Dash Usage

Postby ocdjg » Tue Mar 01, 2011 11:51 am

Hi guys. I was just wondering what others are using that lower cubby hole under our A/C controls for. It looks like a single din radio can fit there maybe even a double if those switches were re-routed elsewhere. I'm just curious to see if anyone has done anything in that area.

I have an electric trailer brake controller on the left and a transmission temperature gauge to the right.

It's legal in Arizona! (I don't really drive with it there but it does fit well.)

I used to do that until I got pulled over one day. I was told its not really "concealed"

Arizona just passed a law where you can conceal carry with out a permit and you've always been able to carry non-concealed here.

Other states to follow soon?????

I actually just got a nice Garmin Nuvi 1490LMT last night and found that the windshield mount sticks to the roof of that little cubby hole so that's where my GPS now resides.

One benefit to having it there is that it's out of the way and within easy reach while my hand is resting on the shifter.

One downshide to having it there is that it's out of my line of sight... but it's not like I'm using it as a heads up display or anything.

It also kinda blocks the 4WD and VSC button, but 1 - it's not like I use them often and 2 - it doesn't block them so much that I can't still use them.
