Hood shield/ bug deflector for 08 PF

Postby i-man » Sun Mar 27, 2011 1:02 pm

So, here's the skinny of it. I have bought 2 different hood guards in the last two weeks. One was a Auto Ventshade II. Didn't fit. Center tab matched up to the factory hole in the rubber seal. The other two that were supposed to match two of the outer holes weren't even close.
The second was a Lund Interceptor. The center two holes matched, and again, the outer two weren't even close.
The shape of both was not what it should be. Even if the outer holes were in the right position, I would have to bend the guard to get the holes in position.
The first said it fit 05-07 and the second fit 05-09. Need some help. Want to get one to avoid rock chips and such, but I don't want to keep ordering and returning. What are you guys using?

The '08+ rigs have a problem...they had a very subtle front end change and I don't think a lot of the aftermarkets picked up on it. I had the same problem trying to get projector headlights. The '08+ is just very slightly different shape as is the hood, grille, etc. I think OEM is about the only option.

If that is my only option, I will go that way. I would rather have a wrap around type that covers the leading edge of the fender, where it meets the hood.
Thanks for the link.

Any one with an 08 + have a picture with one on it? I do like the lund, especially the low profile they have, but that's bad news if it does not fit.

just make new holes in your hood and paint the exposed edges....that's what I did.....The AVS one does have a less attractive shape than the factory one though...

I have the AVS shield and used a drill bit made for plexiglass (bought them at Harbor Freight) to drill new holes. it was real easy and i was able to reattach the rubber seal.

Not to hijack this thread, but can anyone recommend where I can get the "pieces" that come with the Nissan hood deflector?

I just pulled one off my 2008 PF and want to install it on our 2011 PF but I'm in need of the screw plugs and washers.

You might try calling/email autovent shade and ask for an install kit. They might send you one.
