Thats really horrible that Nissan does not have any better support over there for vehicles they sell.

They've really got that engine torn down. I hope they can get it all back together correctly. I think I'd want a long block at this point!

well, cant really blame the whole organization here cause of a couple of lousy mechanics they have.
over the past three years they have been very fair with me with repairs and they know that i offroad.

That's a good point that they are working with you. Here in the states i bet alot of dealers would say that we void our warranty if we off road.

That sucks on the new engine. Any kind of warranty on the work they are performing now? If your close to an expired warranty I'd want something to cover what they are currently working on.

yep all works on warranty. all free. they might make me pay for the oil and belts but i'm fine with that.
my warranty expires in 6 months, and the new engine gets a 6 month warranty, so i'm guessing all stays the same. dunno how many miles though.
plan is to get it out and sell it ASAP. time for a V8 pathy.

cool story though --> Nissan here hold a yearly offroad exploration trip, and i have been a marshall on those trips for the past 2 years now. they always have a technical team on standby with X-terras following everyone around.
the xterra got stuck in some sand this year and I recovered it for them. the driver is the same guy fixing my engine now. i just hope his engine fixing skills are better than his driving.

Nice. Go for the V8. I love mine so far. The power it offers is great.

Hey Mar1,
sorry, haven't been watching this thread. All those engines seem to have a bit of a tick, some from the intake, some from the valvetrain, especially under load when cold. Alot of it's pretty normal. The only thing to watch for is the cat rattling. They should have had a look at it when it was apart. If anything was put together wrong (even a bit out of phase), the MIL would come on right away. You can't get away with much of anything on these engines. I'd say drive the crap out of it while it's still warranty. I'm sure the guy lost his shirt doing the engine. Watch for oil leaks from the timing cover and the VDC solenoids at the top of the valve cover. If you have any tinny noises check the usual heat shield on the exhaust and the cats (especially the right side - where the crank sensor lives). Glad you got her back to hit the dirt! If you need anything, don't hesitate to PM me!
