Pet barrier suggestions

Postby Spamcan » Fri Jun 04, 2010 7:55 pm

OK, I seriously need a pet barrier for my PF. I have a 75 pound lab/shepard mix and she gets around, jumping seats. I leave the 3rd row seats down so she has room. The only barriers I can find are the type that wedge between the floor and the roof - usually at pet stores. I don't think this could be good for the roof liner. Anyone have suggestions that has worked? Or that I should avoid?

I wish there was something like in my X. The roof hooks make a great tie down spot...no roof liner issues.

Only suggestion I have is to screw a barrier on the plastic, behind the rear doors.

+1 for the crate. Regular dog barriers will not protect you or your dog when you slam on your brakes at 80mph. The dog will become a projectile and take out the barrier, your head and then the front window. The crate is the right way to go.

At least go for a crash tested seatbelt harness. I've seen videos of bad harnesses that just go pop..

Crates in the back, properly secured are absolutely safest..

Check this out https://www.4x4parts.com/nissan/pathfin ... -2531.html looks like a really cool option, let me know if you get it and how sturdy it is and how well it works. I am thinking about getting one.

Awesome mtcoastie - thanks for the link. That looks like it'll work perfectly! I'll have to go look at my tie-down spots, but it looks right on.

2 things regarding that net and our anchor points...

1. the anchor points in the floor and walls are garbage. the ones in the floor are cheap pot metal and can't take a significant load. i busted one in the floor strapping down some 2x4's that were sticking out the hatch window. the ones in the wall certainly cant be much better since they look like thin metal rod. they are good for groceries, but not too sure about a 75 pound dog jumping / flying into the net.

2. where does that net connect at the roof? there are no anchor points in the roof to attach to. does it stick out the door and attach to the roof rack (or something similar)?

Good points, have yet to look inside my rig (been riding the motorcycle to work). Would hate to get this and it be a failure in regards to worthy mounting.

i was just on weathertechs website and they had a pet berrier section on there. I didn't investigate that much, but check it out, they might have something that's a little more durable??

Good luck!
