New owner of Used 2006 White Nissan Pathfinder S

Postby Bruce_Lee » Mon Aug 15, 2011 5:42 pm

HI Everyone,
Just wanted to introduce my self. I just purchased a used 2006 Nissan Pathfinder S for the family.

I currently have a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS (Rally Yellow - Auto).

I previously had a 2008 Saturn Outlook XR, silver, with tow package, navigation, rear view camera with parking sensors, which I bought brand new on Dec 2007.

Because GM eliminated Saturn from its line, I decided to get rid of it. I really loved that SUV, but didn't want to risk the 'depreciation' in value of it. So, because I was already planning on buying the new Camaro, I decided to trade it for the 2011 model year (Camaro) on October of last year (2010)

I was then 'forced' to look for an alternate family vehicle for my family (wife). I was considering getting a used 2004 Honda Odyssey EX, a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 Ext-cab or a used Nissan Pathfinder (2006-newer, but used).
I couldn't/can't believe how much money these Honda Odyssey owners want for their used minivan with 100+K miles here in California (about 10K - 12K USD). Also, most used 2008 GMC Sierra were still going for over $20K. I really didn't want to spend over $15K USD on a used vehicle unless I had to.

I began looking at used 2006+ Pathfinders and was able to find this white one for about $12.9K.

I did some research on the pathfinders. I learned about the radiator/transmission problems. I made sure to test drive the SUV and I looked for the symptoms. I didn't see anything wrong with the coolant in the radiator or the transmission fluid. The car ran fine and I decided to buy it.

Because I had already read all the pages on the 'Transmission/Radiator bypass' section, it was the first thing I did to the car. I hope I get several years (5+) out of this vehicle without any major issues (transmission??).

Thanks to all who posted all the great/helpful information. I plan to to keep reading this forum.

thanks,

BL in San Francisco.

Thanks.

Will post pictures as soon as I can.

I think it is very important for any one planning to purchase a 'used' vehicle to do some research before the purchase. I did plenty of research on 4 vehicles that I was interested in (which includes the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 quadcab with 5.7L V8 Hemi). At the end, I decided that I really didn't need a minivan since my kids are 11 and 7 years old.

Hopefully I will continue to be a 'happy' member of this group.

BL.

I think, like other sites, there is a minimum post count.

hi Bruce_Lee,

first of all, welcome to the forum!
we do not a minimum post count to post pix, however we do not store the images on our server itself.
you can upload the pix to any sharing website such as photobucket.com or imageshack.us or any other site you are comfortable with.

after that, the photo site gives you a direct link to your photo which you can copy-paste onto the post you are writing.
add the tags Image at the beginning and end of the image link, and you can post it here.

example:

and it will appear here.

PM me if you need any more info on how to get it done.

Cheers
