Show us your Double DIN headunits and dash kit

Postby mario8402 » Mon Oct 04, 2010 1:05 pm

My wifes 05 SE does not have an ipod hookup so I am going to add a double din touch screen unit and just want to get an idea at how the install looks. I am not a fan of dashkits and the funny pockets they have so thats why I am looking at double in and not single.

I installed this JVC double-din unit in my 05 SE.

Buzz... that tilt down feature is slick on the Kenwood, I wish my Pioneer did that. It would be nice to have some kind of small shroud avaiable for these setups. BTW, what model Nuvi is that? I was thinking of buying the 765t for mine....

The Garmin is the 755t. I had to modify the GPS mount in order for it to fit by switching out the base the GPS ships with and the base the mount comes with. I also hard wired the car adapter cable in the car in order to get the traffic updates.

I just installed my AVH-4200DVD yesterday. Real nice. Sounds better than the bose unit I originally had. Image

Uploaded with ImageShack.us.
Some issues that I've ran into is that the metra dash kit does not fit so I have a gap running across the top of the unit. And my ipod controls are a bit delayed. Anyone have these issues?

I installed my pioneer 4300 dd stereo. Wish there was a dash kit for it. the cheap trim plate that came with the stereo falls off when you open it up to insert a dvd. Have gaps all around the stereo..looks like crap.

Wonder if this would work.. www.bestbuy.com/site/Metra+-+Double+DIN ... 3-2187-0-2

So how does Crutchfield's prices compare to Best Buy or another brick and mortar retailer?

Since owning this radio now for a couple months, I'd say it's okay. Lot's of things I don't like. Mostly the screen resolution, it sucks. Wish I'd of sent it back. Definitively not worth 350 bucks.

Just installed this Pioneer AVH-P2300DVD. installation was pretty easy. Used the Metra kit, could be cleaner but I am satisfied.

I was gonna post a pic but mine looks exactly like this save for two elements. I don't have the GPS unit above, and I have the DNX9980HD.

Somewhat else is required besides the unit itself. A dash kit and a wiring harness? Anyone care to post part numbers they ordered?
