Serpentine belt routing

Shouldn't there be a belt routing diagram under the hood of my 2005 V6 R51? I have to replace the belt and I'd like a rounting diagram to follow just in case I get confused putting the new one on.

Does anybody have one?

Also, I haven't checked yet but are one of the tensioners spring loaded so that I can lever it out of the way to take tension off the belt allowing me to slip it off easily?

I just replaced mine, although I have a 2006. I used a 3/8" ratchet with a breaker bar, turned counterclockwise to relieve the tension and took the belt off.

I made a diagram of the routing; not sure if there is a diagram under the hood. Very simple to do.

I just did mine also, there is no diagram but you could take a few pics if you need to. I removed the flexible tube for the air intake and went at it. The pulley will tell you which side of the belt will end up on them, it not a real hard thing to put back on. As a suggestion I would take a real good look at the tensionor pulley while your at it, with 71k miles on ours it was beginning to sound like it wanted to be replaced so I went ahead and did it while changing the belt.

Draw a diagram on a piece of paper and put it back the same way you drew it.

Good ideas I didn't think of. I knew that I was going to have to take off the intake and I will probably take a quick pic with the camera phone.

What is involved with replacing the tensioner pulley? Cheap part?

I would avoid cheap parts, I usually go for the inexpensive parts.

In all seriousness, the pulleys are not bad at all. Here's a link to RockAuto. Looks like 30 dollars for the pulley.

I would buy a good quaility one, its cheaper than buying another belt and pulley down the road and you won't have to worry about it for the life of the belt (hopefully). I always stay away from the "cheap" parts, but thats just me I don't like doing the same job twice.

Hello!

I don't want to open new topic soo I will ask here.
I have Nissan Pathfinder LE 2.5 dCi 126kW 2007 with 92.000km.

I will replace two micro belts. Soo this are for pump, altenator, air condition...

I need 2x belts. How much tensiones I will need for two belts? 4 or 2?

If I want to change 2x belts do I need to put away front bumper or something like that? Or it is simple... just open the hood and replace belts without any other disassembly?

Smarty, sorry but here in the US we do not have any diesel operated Pathfinders. They have them in other parts of the world like Europe. Most folks on this site are from the US. Good luck with finding the answer you seek.

I, for one, would wish that we had a diesel and a manual transmission option here in the US. Seems they are very popular elsewhere, including "the land down under". On occasion I follow their adventures. One logistic problem I see is the learning curve necessary for the dealership.
Just finished watching another episode of the British TV series "Doc Martin". Seems most cars and light trucks are diesel in the show. But the oil companies need someone to buy the diesel byproduct... gasoline. Guess that's the role for the US.

I would have bought a diesel in a heartbeat. I'm not sure why they are all dragging their feet but they are right that the US consumer will not buy a diesel as much as European consumers.

In Europe more than half of all vehicles on the road are diesel and now that the price of diesel over there has gone up as much to match their gas prices they are mad and would rather have gas engines.

At least that is what I got when I was there last Summer.

You should know why we have diesels :)
Because here is 1 liter of petrol 1,83 $ :)
Here is 1 liter od diesel 1,75 $

If you have car on petrol or car on diesel you can compare consumption :)

- You need to pay every year insurance for Pathfinder around 1800$.
- All 4x tyres General Grabber AT I paid 830$
- Approximately for full tank of diesel (70 liter) I paid 122$
- Yearly I made about 24.000km and consumption is around 10l/100km
- Yearls is this around 2400 liter of diesels which cost me around 4203$

Soo now can you see how much cost fuel here and other crap like insurance.

How is in US? :)

I changed it in saturday. It took me 15 minutes. In service told me that they need 45 minutes :shock:
