What is the volume and type of automatic transmission fluid?

Thanks axelsup. I did a do a drain/fill of just the tranny, but that was only @ 4 quarts. Let us know how yours went, sounds like a sound plan. I'll probably do the cooler bypass then too (as eieio stated).
