05 pathfinder. faint whining sound coming from engine

When the engine is cold, I sometimes get a squeak from the fan clutch for about 5 minutes. It goes away once warmed up. Talked to the dealer, he mentioned it wasn't worth replacing the fan clutch over.

Yours sounds like timing chain though. Take it in, get it diagnosed.

after getting approval from extended warranty company, dealer went ahead to replace what is the secondary timing chains tensioner.
the whining sound that I reported is now gone.
the total cost was over $1000, but the warranty covered most of that and my out of pocket cost was around $300. because the warranty company wanted new oil and a few parts that was not covered. better than paying over $1000 right.

but now a new problem I have discovered. I will start a new thread for that one.
I see another thread started about chain tensioner, I will link this thread that one.
