2007 Pathfinder

Postby jggv98 » Thu Feb 02, 2012 4:33 pm

Just got a Nissan Pathfinder 2007 with 50,000 miles, how can i know if i will have the transmission cooling line leak failure in the future? Will happen in every 2005-2007 Pathfinder sooner or later?

There are two transmission coolers. One is an external cooler located in front of the radiator. The second cooler is located inside the bottom of the radiator. This is the cooler that is prone to leaking and allowing engine coolant to enter the transmission. You can eliminate the possibility of transmission fluid contamination by doing any of the following:

1. Replace stock radiator
2. Install a second transmission cooler in place of the cooler in the radiator
3. Just bypass the transmission cooler in the radiator.

Many people choose option 2 and I would recommend this if you do any towing. Many people, myself included, also do option 3. I would strongly suggest you do option 3 at a minimum and you will have a greater peace of mind. Oh and welcome to the forum!

If you need any more details check out this thread.

Radiator Part 21460 EA215

Postby jggv98 » Sun Feb 19, 2012 2:17 pm

Thanks deermjd...

I just read many post regarding this issue and also read that Nissan claims that this will occur only in "some" vehicles and/or "a small percentage" of vehicles might experience the coolant-leak problem

I live in Mexico and i was trying to find out if this problem is also at the Mexican Market but i didnt find any testimony, I went with 3 different dealers and no answer, I have contact with some engineers at Nissan Aguascalientes Plant (at the company I work for, we provide to them power tools and hand tools) and they dont have any records of this failure

My radiator part number is 21460 EA215, i would like to choose option 1, but i dont know wich is the new part number of the radiator with no complains or is still the same?

thanks

I haven't heard of any 2007 Pathfinders with this issue, even though the extended warranty coverage is for 05-10 models. All of the failed radiators that I've heard complaints about have come from 05 & 06 Pathy/Frontier/Xterra owners.

Oh, well! Let's hope the 2008-and-ups fare better!
