Bringing up a sensitive issue with me. I had the issue start at 66K miles out of warranty obviously...now have 79900mi. i have been denied service ny Nissan corporate after months of persistence. I was offered a $250 credit by mail.

I have been quoted anywhere from $1200 to $1600 by multiple dealers. ALL DEALERS SAY THEY SEE THIS VERY OFTEN!

will probably have the work done soon as i plan to drive the thing for 200K mi. Wish they issued a recall

So what exactly does this sound like? I read the TSB and it mentioned a high pitched whine, but I can think of a lot of different noises that fall under that description.

I've had a noise that sounds like whats described, but only when the engine is cold and I was being aggressive.

So I stopped being aggressive when the engine is cold... :)

So far, hasn't come back.

On mine it sounds almost like a spun bearing that follows the RPM of the engine. Almost like a bad alternator would sound, or a faulty electric motor... Not sure if that helps.

There was a video on Youtube of a VQ40DE making the noise you can check that out. I haven't heard too much about this parts change though, so I wonder if it was actually a viable option.
