Same ones you did, works perfect. Since I was ordering from McMaster I figured I'd just do them all at once...

BAD NEWS - I ordered the 9416K148 200lbs struts and it appears the stock threads are different on my 2011.

Here's a close-up

I'll have to order the 4 clips from an 07 or something.

I'll post back with the part number if everything works out.

That sucks. Here's the link to the part numbers on Courtesy: http://www.courtesyparts.com/pathfinder ... _6990.html

Although, you could probably get beefier ones from McMaster-Carr:

Hey guys, just ran across this thread and want to resurrect this thread. What part number did you order for the door struts for a 2011? Mine have never worked properly and I have to push up on the tail gate so I can get under it.

Thanks in advance.

I just went to autozone and got mine there for my '06. I replaced them this summer. You can probably do the same for your '11

Thanks for all the great information in this thread. My wife and I have been battling our rear hatch for the past two years on our 05 Pathfinder. Just tonight I was holding up the hatch with my head while she loaded our kids strollers in the back and I thought to myself I really needed to fix it.

I'll be ordering the 200# ones from McMaster-Carr. I was looking at some others online, but they are by far the best priced.

Okay, my rear struts are getting really bad and only lift the tailgate about half way before I have to push it open. I checked with the guys at Courtesy and the part number is different for the 2011 and 2012 over previous years. Which, unfortunately does not show on the link provided by NVSteve.

The Nissan OEM part number for 2005 to 2010 is # 90424Q
The Nissan OEM part number for 2011 to 2012 is # 90450-ZL90A

I would prefer not to order a replacement OEM part as they are really not adequate. Has anyone been able to find suitable replacement for a 2011 and 2012?

BTW, thanks cgray but we do not have AutoZones in Canada, or at least here in BC.

"90424Q" is not a Nissan part number, it's a part code. The part number for 2005-2010 rear hatch struts are 90450-ZS09E.

The colder weather makes them stop working completely!

And just to clarify - it doesn't matter what number Nissan has for the struts, they are all identical. I actually drove to Courtesy last year and we went through them all.

Long story short, I'm going to have to re-thread the plastic ends (which are not sold seperately) to accommodate the McMaster-Carr ones I ordered last year. (see my previous pics)

UPDATE:
I drilled out the old plastic ends that hold the struts on with a 19/64 drill bit.
That was enough to thread on the McMaster-Carr struts.
I added a good bit of JB Weld to the ends and that should hold just fine.

I'll hopefully never have to worry about the rear hatch again!! :D

Good to hear. I was also going to suggest looking at McMaster-Carr again because they sell all types of ends for the struts.

Hey Touchdown,

Were you ever able to figure out what the thread was for the original OEM strut? If not, I guess I will order the 9416K148 struts and drill out the plastic ends as well. Kinda of tried pushing up the tailgate every time I need to get into the back.

Yes I would just go ahead and order those struts.
If the threads don't match, just use the 19/64 bit size and drill it out nice and straight.

I twisted each end on, then took them off, applied the JB Weld and refastened them on. (Make sure both ends face the same direction)

Let it sit for at least 15 hrs, and now you can sit back and let the struts do what they get paid to do...bring me beer...errr...I mean LIFT!!
