Newer LE Chrome strip.

Postby dared3vil00 » Tue May 08, 2012 7:59 pm

Evening all, I have been noticing on some newer pathys, a chrome strip along the doors, were my 05 LE has a body colored one. Does anyone know the part number for this, or how simple it would be to change mine to?

You could probably apply chrome vinyl to yours if you can't find any to buy. That's what they use on a lot of the chrome covered cars and it's pretty cheap.

I would assume that Nissan would sell the chrome strip as part of the door molding as one piece. As for fitment, I'm unsure if the 08+ pathfinder doors are the same lenght as the 05-07 models. I know the front end was expanded in 08 to make room for the V8, but I'm unsure if this modification resulted in the rest of the body changing.

Any chance you live close to some junk yards? Might be worth looking into.

The moldings are two different parts. It's not too difficult to change them. The moldings are held on with double sided tape. If you find them used, take a heat gun and some thin string or wire to cut the tape in cheese cutter fashion. Be careful, it will be pretty noticeable if you bend them at all.

If you buy the moldings new, you will have to have them painted. Here's prices & part #'s

Yea, I was looking into these as well, until I saw the MSRP and the fact that they come unpainted!!! So, you still have to pay to get these painted.

If you do it right, or have a professional do it who does clear bra installs, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. The quality of vinyls have come a long way. As long as the surface is smooth it will be a mirror finish just like stock.

I see what you're saying, however AFAIK the whole molding is completely different. Not just chromed.

Yes. Yours are probably rounder while the ones you want are rectangular.

Ok, so the front driver door measured just under the door handle is 44 1/4 inches long. The molding measured out to be 41 3/4 inches long. Hope that helps and that it's not too late.
