Trip to the "end of the world" - Nordkapp, Norway

Postby Taavi » Mon Jul 23, 2012 12:42 pm

I took my my family to the trip up north. Weather at Nordkapp was super. Sun was high all day and night. After leaving Nordkapp the weather got worse and worse every day. By the time we left from Norway the temperature dropped down to +7C (forecast was +4C) and it was raining daily.

We were on wheels totaly 13 days and approx 5000km. Average mpg was a surprise - 12,3L/100km. Gasoline price in Norway was about 2€ (EUR) per liter.

Mods for trip:
* Installed a 600w inverter under the passanger seat. Had to install fuse and cables from battary to inverter.
* Removed middle row middle seat. So the kids can get in and out more easily.

GPS tracklog and some pics here. (It is written in Estonian but hopefully Google will translate it quite well.)

Very cool. That's the one bit of Norway I haven't seen yet & have always wanted to drive up there from Oslo. Beautiful, beautiful country. I was going to ask if you took the ferry over to Stockholm or Helsinki, but I see that you posted your route. That must have been one amazing trip with very few people on the roads. I'm jealous!

PS-Any way you could make your Flickr photos available to everyone?

Tavvi, what's up with that rear bumper bar? How does it attach and where did you get it?

Those photos are public at Flickr. You can take a look at this URL:

The rear bar was installed already when I bought my Path. In Estona, we have quite a lot of shops that are selling stuff like that. For example:

The bar is attached with 4 bolts and nuts (2 for both sides) to the cross bar behind the rear bumber. Same bar where rear bumper is attached to.
