Install a factory navi/DVD screen in 05 LE?

Postby Unconfirmed » Fri Jan 25, 2013 4:57 am

Hi! I've been reading about various Pathfinder problems for about two weeks now, because I bought a 2005 LE two weeks ago. (Haven't been delivered from the dealership yet. They're doing some modifications on it for me, so I'm very excited to have it delivered!)
I've tried searching for, what I'm asking this community, if I can install a factory navigation / DVD screen in my car.
I can't find anything on it!

Something I can do myself?
Anyone done this themselves?
Install something else than factory-fit?

I know this is a forum filled with good people, and I love it!

Thanks in advance!

Check Courtesy Nissan online for the parts in the center console:

Do you have the Bose?

Thank you for replying!

I'll be checking that out, right away.

Nope, I'm pretty sure I don't have the Bose system, allthough, I could be wrong. Does that make a difference? :?

The Navi and non-Navi systems (esp. non-Bose, non-Navi) will likely have a different main harness. If you want Navi, your best bet would be to install and aftermarket system w/ Navi. Try Crutchfield.com.

Thanks for the advice.

I checked out crutchfield.com and they had a couple of cool units.
Although I live in Norway, I can't use these, so I found the equivalent here, but the price here is about the tripple..

Since the Pathfinder has a double DIN headunit, does that mean, about any double DIN unit will fit, as long as I have the correct frame?
I'm not very schooled on these things!

I can't speak for every unit, but most radio mountings are standardized these days, so most double-din units should bolt in without a problem. Generally, the problem isn't with the bolt-in to the chassis, but the fit to the front trim finisher. Installation kits will typically come with some sort of adapter to hide or fill-in any gaps for a cleaner looking install.
