285/70R17 BFG AT KO's fit on stock 06 LE

Postby blink32 » Thu Nov 09, 2006 7:18 pm

I'll get pictures tomorrow during what little day light is left now a days but I just got some BFG TA KO's mounted on the stock wheels today. 285/70R17, stock size on the OffRoad Titan. Farking expensive compared to other sizes of the same tire, but I suspect in time the price will come down as more Titans are put on the road and the demand increases. But it definitely an odd-size tire which I suspect jacked up the price a bit.

Fitment is TIGHT. I can fit a full finger inbetween any part during full range of turning and fully unloaded to level suspension travel (i have "normal" fingers, not fat ones). Distance between the UCA and the inside of the tire is very close. Next closest point would be at the front lower fender area, again, a fingers gap at most. I haven't been able to look at clearances with the suspension as loaded as I can get it. Will have to wait for daylight tomorrow.

Haven't put anything over 1/4 mile on them between my place and the tire shop so I can't comment on anything other than looks and fit. They are snug inside of the fenders, but just barely. I suspect if I go AC Springs + airlift or OME suspension lifts there will be more clearance, but I think 285/70 is about it for us without rubbing or trimming needed. But again, I'll slap up some pics tomorrow.

Great to hear. This is exactly the setup I am looking for once I get a suspension lift. Looking forward to the pics.
Thanks

As promised, the pictures. I just realized I didn't take any full side shots. Tomorrow as time permits I'll toss one up here.

I hear the money part. I don't think I've ever paid this much for tires before. Even when I was into high performance low profile's I went with the best bang for the buck range. Ended up quite a bit below what these ended up being after install, tax and all that bs.

I looked at the same tire but for a 16, looks like they end up being a 1/10" larger in circumfernce. I tell you, I like how it fills it out. Now I just need a mild 2" or sub lft and I'll be content. I just can't wait to get up to the mountains this winter and test them out in snow.

blink, don't forget to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes, reconnect, and drive immediately for a few miles for the ECU to compensate.

How is your overall power affected, as well as MPG and ride quality?

Fernando I have about 1,570 miles on it. I got new tires because I desire something with a much more agressive tread than stock without going into the MT range. I travel all over the country during my time off and need a good mud and snow performer over and above stock.

Ragpaoa As I mentioned in my first post I haven't driven any further than the 1/4 mile from the tire shop to my place since I had them put on Thursday night. I should get some driving in sometime on Sunday. The Path isn't my daily driver and I've been preoccupied with other things in my spare time right now. But as soon as I get that info I'll definitely post my findings.

I suppose I could. I hadn't really thought about it to tell the truth. But it wouldn't be a bad idea for me to sell them and get some of the money back. Wouldn't be much but it'd be something. I'll have to put them in the Classifieds as soon as I get pictures.

Well, they DO rub. I suspect under high (as high as a stock pathy can) articulation it could tear off a stock mud flap maybe. I have yet to determine exactly where its rubbing. Its definitely the fronts only and only between 1/3 and 2/3 wheel lock when negotiating different elevation of ground like turning into a driveway were weight is shifted. Full lock or 1/4 lock turning it won't rub. Its been too dark and raining to look but I'll find the rub marks and post. Seems like its just the inner fender liner.

Come on OME and get a lift built.

Are you located somewhere on the East Coast fernando? If so I'd consider selling them.

Ahh, not worth the price of shipping then.
