Potential Radiator/Trans issue?

Today it wouldn't go into 4th gear. It reached 4000rpm in 3rd and wouldn't shift up. I looked at the fluid and again, brown.

I'm convinced there something wrong. Even though the dealership said the fluid was good and didn't even need changing. I'm going to talk to Nissan about this.

I suppose it seems paranoid of me but I don't trust the dealership, they work for their own interest and I don't want to see them delay or deny a problem till my warranty is up.

be sure to have all current concerns and dealership responses specifically documented on paper (repair orders with dates & mileages, along with your specific problems and the dealers' findings)
this way you can show in the future (beyond warranty expiration) that a problem or symptoms existed prior to expiration

Thanks for the heads up. I called Nissan and opened a case already specifically told the rep this is why. Amazingly she admitted to this being a common problem. But you're right without the docs it's all futile.

Had to resurrect this thread, look what I found today in the coolant reservoir. 89k miles, Extended warranty for trans/radiator expired in May I believe.

This is the inside of the coolant reservoir. Notice the brown sludge ring above the coolant.

I tried to get a good photo but it was difficult. In normal light you can clearly see it's a brown frothy color.

I called Nissan, gave them my case number. Showing when I called about this before and what the issues were and how the mechanics said it could be a leak but they couldn't see it 100%. They said I would still have to pay the copay of $2500. I escalated the issue and now awaiting a call back. Ugh...
