Nissan Battery

Postby Oly 22 » Tue Apr 22, 2014 7:48 pm

Well, after three years and two months, my Nissan OEM battery died. Sure didn't last too long. Back to an Interstate MegaTron.

To my knowledge that's typical of an OEM battery. I don't see them lasting as long as I think they should. I have a Duralast Platinum similar to an Optima and it's been great.

I would normally agree but my wife has driven a 2007 Hyundai, since new and the original battery is still going strong well into seven years.

I would say the battery in your wife's Hyundai is abnormal. I don't think I've ever seen that long on an original OEM battery. +1 for Hyundai. :D

yeah, that's exceptionally good battery life
both of my OEM R51 batteries lasted within a few months of 3 years
the real disappointments were the replacement Optima batteries, which didn't last nearly as long as the OEMs
those were the biggest waste of money I've spent in a long time

Agree on the optimas. I had one in my Jeep and it lasted forever. When I did finally have to replace it, I ended up going through 3 optimas in the span of about 3 years. It was horrible. I sold the Jeep and didn't want that issue with my Pathfinder so I ended up buying the Duralast Platinum, which is a dry cell battery like the optimas and so far it's been working great.

I don't think I've gotten more than 3 years out of a non-luxury brand OEM battery in 20 years. I'll be curious to see how long the battery lasts in my wife's Acura as it's included in the 50k mile warranty. I doubt they'd use a cheap battery if they're going to warranty it.

My longest battery lasted 6 years  No symptoms. It just died one day.

Shortest is 2 years. I lost the damn receipt from Sam's club so they wouldn't replace it under warranty. So bought another and made sure I put the receipt in a safe place this time.

My OEM one just died on me today... Had it jumped and drove to Advance Auto... They replaced with an autocraft-gold-battery with 640cca. They had it on sale for under $100 including core exchange.

I always replace batteries with Walmart's Everstart Maxx. Consumer Reports always rates them highly and last couple I bought were $89. Three-years at 100% plus two-years pro-rated.

Anyone know if the larger size V8 battery will fit on the V6 without any modification?

Smj how are you making out with the Wall Mart Everstart battery? My 2012 V6 was built late 2011 and I am thinking about dumping the stock batt as this truck sat for long times between drives from the previous owner and from experience that is not good for a battery (Only had 7,000 miles when I bought it early this year). The WM batt is a good price now it looks like $107.00 at my local WM down the street and it gets pretty cold here in Western MA and I don't want to be stuck on the side of the road.

I have one in an 08 and another in an 06. Both have been working fine.
