Oh yeah, it's the geek bling with flashing lights, just can't get enough.

GPS recommendations

Postby blink32 » Fri Dec 01, 2006 5:04 am

Anyone have any thoughts to chime in on GPS systems? Wife bought an 06 Murano specifically w/o the integral GPS and wants to add one. She doesn't like the joystick interface in my Pathy and wants touch screen. At this point I've narrowed it down to the following 5 Garmin systems based off her requirements of North American maps, External unit, Blue Tooth, Touch Screen, Must speak street names for turns as opposed to generic left turn ahead.
Nuvi 660
Nuvi 360
SP C550
SP 2820
SP 7500

Some of these will probably be eliminated due to mounting styles and what not. But input on these or any other brands is appreciated. They just must include at-least the five basic requirements listed above.

Hey Blink. I haven't looked at GPS units in a while. So I can't really help much. Here is a website I used to read that is very helpful and you can get discounts if you join also. http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/default.asp?group=2

There are so many out now, that it's hard to choose, plus Alpine has a new one that is killer. http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topi ... C_ID=45844
http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/products/p ... l=PMD-B100
Hope the info is helpful.

The Alpine Blackbird is out. System lacks Text to Speak functionality so all you get is "turn left in 100 ft" as opposed to street names.

Maybe they will have an update for it to have the street names. In any case the forum has some very knowledgeable people. Are you looking to get it for Christmas? Good luck with your search.
