Hi,
Don't get me wrong, but it is quite possible.
I have a Nissan Pathfinder 174CV (2005) and I am now quoting around 8.4 or 28mpg. And early this week I managed to take it down to get 8.0 or 29,4mpg, but it did not stay there very long. This was done through combined highway, suburbia and city driving.
There are many tricks to get these numbers.

The secret is premium fuel and gradual acceleration.
Don't take this the wrong way, but I can also take a picture of the on-board idiot computer mpg calculation that would look astounding as well. I don't buy that you are getting 29.7 mpg per tank though, if that is what you are claiming.
