air box pre-filter?

Postby nutbar78 » Mon Sep 15, 2014 9:55 am

Hey guys, glad the website finally let me back in...anyways, please see the photos below. See that crappy filter element between the wall and the plastic plate? Well its basically disintegrating just by looking at it. Should I try and replace it or just remove it or leave it alone? What do you think?

Dont think thats a filter of any kind...typically companies put a little foam around things that pass thru metal walls (fenders, firewall) to keep NVH (noise vibration, harshness) down to a minimum. I wouldnt put too much thought into it, doesnt mean anything really.

All that is is a foam seal between the inner fender sheetmetal and the plastic air inlet. As mentioned, it's not a filter. I wouldn't bother with it.
