due to cold weather, ethanol laden fuel, and an occasional inclement weather gridlock on the highways I'm back down into the high 12s on average.

Don't really care much for my MPG lately  It's $1.77/gal for gas in my area. :D

My 2012 V6 says I average 15 pushing the little tell tale button although I wonder how accurate it is?

I found mine to be pretty accurate. You can manually calculate it yourself and compare the results.

15mpg sounds like an average of combined city and highway driving. I get the same.

My 06 LE gets around 17.5 in the summer time and around 16.5 in the winter time, combined. How you drive makes a big difference. The throttle-by-wire is touchy, so a smooth foot and using the cruise control as much as possible seems to net the best gas mileage. I use regular 87 octane gas, but tried 93 octane premium and didn't notice any difference in mileage.

most of my work commute is crawling bumper to bumper less than 30 mph. Fuel economy in the V8 under these conditions blows. The few times I get to let the motor breath without jagoffs around in traffic I'm typically doing 80mph on the highway so I never really make up for the work subpar economy of work commutes
