trunk door latch button thingy issues

anyone ever replaced their trunk door opening button thingy....mine gave up this morning so have to open the window hatch then open the trunk door from inside

You have an '08 so I'm guessing you have a cinch motor. This motor goes bad and causes the fuse to blow. This motor is also what releases the hatch latch. You'll probably need to replace this motor. It's a 20 minute fix. You'll need to remove the inside hatch trim. The motor is a couple hundred bucks I think.

yep it does have the cinch mechanism but i reckon its the button on the handle thats gone since when i close the door i can hear and feel it closing as normal
