on the second picture from top,,,what is that thing attached to the frame(the one the top left arrow crosses) looks like some form of suspension bushing but as i checked today its not attached to anything but the frame and nothing on-top below in-front or behind it....oh and they are on each side of the frame..
i was told those are "frame dampeners"....it's just a big hunk of rubber that's squashed against the frame, apparently to absorb any kind of 'ping' or 'ding' sounds that may occur from rocks/etc.

That's what I've been told as well. Anybody try googling it?

What size socket do you need to take off the running boards?

Realize this is an old thread but I tried this out tonight and had a hell of a time. I started with the bolts you recommended but was only able to get two of the first four I tried.

Could it just be the cold? It's about 20 degrees here.

I was using a 9mm socket, which like I said, worked on two out of four.

Finally, what size did you use for the bolt that attaches the mount to the frame?

No worries, appreciate the reply. Got it figured out, just needed some Liquid Wrench.

Also, for anyone going forward, the bolts that attach the boards to the mounts are 10mm and the bolts that attach the mounts to the frame are 12mm.

Looks great without them!

Mine actually came off too easily as the bolts were rusted that badly. East Coast Pathy. Now get some rock sliders! :)
