Prevention is better than cure

Postby Cme2c » Thu May 21, 2015 2:32 am

Having read about the problems with coolant getting into the transmission fluid via the pipe in the radiator I had a look at the structure. It then took me a couple if minutes to remove the hose from the radiator having clamped them first. I completely removed the one going back to the transmission and put the end if the one from the radiator pipe inlet where that came from. Sô now my separate factory oil cooler is all I have. My transmission is fine two years later and had never overheated despite towing and carrying very heavy loads through summer heat over mountain passes. I'd suggest everyone else make the same simple modification.
Don't forget to clamp covers on the radiator outlets as otherwise you'll lose your coolant when the pipe inside eventually carps out.
