I've had cryo treated rotors on my Tahoe. It's a waste of money IMHO. Just get some slotted rotors (not drilled) and some good pads. I prefer either ceramic or Performance Friction (if they make them for the PF)Greybrick wrote:I haven't done a brake job yet but it's coming up. Next trip out of the bush I plan on buying a front and rear set of rotors and getting them cryo-treated ready for the change out;

.
Do we have a DIY write-up for the brakes on here? Maybe you can be the first so noobs like myself can follow the directions.trance34 wrote:I will be doing full front swap, rear pads, and new fluid this weekend.
Fronts will be EBC rotors with EBC 6000 greens. Rear pads are Akebono.
i will update once done.
I am going with the normal EBC rotors. No need for slotted on the truck. i went with regualr 6's becasue I wanted to upgreade, but not go overbaord. my wife and I brake in the truck like we brake in our cars. Both of which have upgreaded brakes. We need something to handle our abuse a little better.blink32 wrote:Are you going with the slotted or slotted & dimpled rotors? And any reason you're not going with the 7k series instead of the regular 6's or even the yellow stuff for Truck/SUV's? Definitely post your results.
I'm currently running the dimpled/slotted with 2000 series Greenstuff on my Sentra and the braking was markedly better than with a stock-style replacement. I don't like the whirring sound the rotors make but for the performance it's worth it. I'm also looking at the yellow's for when I need to replace my pathy's setup.
