The steps were a reason that I didn't go up from the S to the SE, I've ripped a step off on a previous vehicle out on a trail.

From the looks of it it seemed like he was going last out of 15 trucks, and from the shots where he was stuck it didn't look like the tires were aired down much if at all.

This was soft sand, so I would think that 14 other trucks spinning up that hill made the ruts MUCH worse by the end.

Airing down is a HUGE help off road. Even w/ street tires, it makes a world of improvement.

I agree with the general consensus, the review was FOS. 1st of all the SE-Off Road model should have been used in this test (would have given the proper ground clearance). I didn't see one vehicle in that lineup that hadden't been modded with at the least the proper tires for the job. Nice use objectivity ya plonkers. So longest wheelbase with lower profile street tires = poorly thought out review. It did seem that the model didn't have ABLS which strikes me as odd. I'd love to see them try to take that Hill with Blink or Carl's rigs (or mine once I get those damned springs installed)...

The thing that I did like about it was that they didn't break anything. They werer basically going balls-to-the-wall up that hill and high centering it every time and nothing went 'bang'

We got 2" of snow this weekend and I want to go out and play. I went out and found a spot to try out the vdc and the abls. The spot were the vido was taken want that hard but full of ice. The path I was trying to go on has a nther drop off on the other side. you can see that the passanger rear tire is just about to come off the ground as well and the drivers front.
Sorry camera phone

Maybe it's the poor phone frame rate, but it seems like you here going on and off the throttle rather rapidly, backing off as soon as it starts slipping. The ABLS system is rather slow to act, so when it starts slipping just give it smooth even throttle for at least a few seconds and let it work.

Ya the phone sucks. ( its a treo 755) I keeped on the throttle but I left the vdc on. ( trying every thing out) It keep raising the rpm and dropping it down a little too. This was my 2nd time doing this. The first time it climbed right up with not one problem but the 2nd time I picked a more difficult line for the video

I was very happy with the VDC and the ABLS

Ah yes, if you leave the VDC/TC on, then it tries to retard the throttle on you which can keep the ABLS from working. Glad you're having fun, I do the same thing whenever I have a good spot to play on :D

Crazy ... I guess I never thought of the Pathfinder as a Hardcore off road rig .... Decent , and upgradeable ... but I dont think Nissan was thinking about going crazy off road when they were designing it ...... More of a fun street rig with the ability to to some light off roading ...

Basically what I use mine for, super fun on the street, handles good ( with the tires I run ) , lots of power , lots of space for the family and friends, and good for driving on the beach or up to the mountain in the snow without being concerned about getting stuck ...

This is the first snow fall with the PF. Im just trying to get a idea of what the PF can do compaired to my Xterra or my old monster truck that was fully locked.. I think if had some more time in the PF I could get this truck to run some realy hard trails but I will not because this is my DD.

hey all since i live in the UAE thought i'd post some vids of how the guys over here tackle sand dunes, sorry again camera phone from a distance.

Its not me in the vehicle but some other bloke in a pathy we saw there. Its very loose sand and quite steep, the vid doesnt show it well enough.

very nice with the sand. does the abls help getting up the hills?
when I took my zr2 to the doons it was fully locked but speed was the main key with running 8lbs in my bfg m/t's. what are you running for air pressure?

i normally run around 12-15 psi, sorry bout the first vid disnt realize i put the comma there :D ..
But like i said before the black pathy is another guy we met when we went up there. Mines a mocha 08 model..will upload some vids soon..
I dont actually know when the abls kicks in when going up the hill but on loose sand on a more flat surface it does work well. The trick is to keep keep on the gas, not too much, at low revs..

I don't think he lowered the tire pressure to about 10psi. I think that would have made a difference.

When the tire pressure is lowered, you have more traction on the ground.
