Some advice please

Postby dawgn86 » Wed Jan 02, 2019 4:14 pm

I finally got around to replacing my valve cover gaskets this past weekend and while I had the intake off, I replaced my spark plugs, blow by hose, PCV and hose and new intake plenum gaskets. I also replaced my cam solenoid gaskets and throttle body gasket.

While doing this I found my heater hose for the rear heat and AC nipple was broken and shelled out $300 for this part and replaced it as well.

I pulled my fault codes tonight and have P 0420 and P 0430 codes as well as same codes pending...

I found another code P0507 which could have multiple causes, but seems most likely a dirty TB. Mine was very dirty, but I didnt take the time to clean it during this other repair. It has never been cleaned before. I did not unplug the electrical connector to it or remove any coolant hoses.

I will be changing the cats to the Walker replacements soon I hope..Is the other P 0507 code something to worry over immediately? The car starts and runs great...182k on the odometer and a 2006 model.

Thanks

An idle air volume relearn will probably take care of the P0507 code.

Thanks SM

The TB is pretty dirty...would you recommend cleaning it before the relearn?

Hello, I just replaced spark plugs, all trans cooling lines, new radiator and trans cooler. I checked my upper intake manifold gaskets (orange rubber) they seem to be in very good shape. Just wondering, after all the work I've done, should I just replace them anyway? (I think I should) Any recommendations on what is a better gasket?

I changed mine out when I did my rocker cover gaskets...at 181k miles, they were flattened out some, but still in decent shape.

If you have the intake plenum off, may want to check your blow by hose and PCV hose. I replace those as well.

I went with OEM Nissan parts.

I believe I will, and yes, I replaced blow by hose, PCV valve and hose plus some. I figure if I did all that I should just do upper intake gaskets for safety.
