Hello folks. I'm on a 2 year work assignment up here in beautiful Northern Alberta. We have had a lot of snow which started the last week of October. Tonights temperature is -27F which is not the coldestwe have had. Yesterday I suffered a flat tire and if you have ever tried to change a tire at -31F, then you have experienced the same issues. For example, on my company vehicle (08 Pathfinder) the nice little vinyl bag that holds the tire tools......shattered in pieces with just a touch. Next came the ice packed under the vehicle and around the spare tire......impossible to lower the tire. Which brings me to the question.

What and who supplies a decent relocation kit for the spare? I would like a roof mount or hitch mount. It has to be rugged, this is a tough environment up here and I work on mining company property. Also something at a decent price or the company accountants who are right now enjoying 60F weather, will have my ARSE.

PS The Pathfinder has been performing well. This is my first Path and so far I'm impressed. This one has been locked in 4X4 since the 3rd of November so far.

Holy crap!!!
$1k for a swingaway spare tire mount?? That's one hell of a profit margin. Last one I bought for a vehicle was no more than $120. I'll have to snoop around the PCOA forum and see if they have a better solution. It would be cheaper to call AAA, even from the boonies, get towed & have a new tire mounted.
