ARe K&N air filters worth it?

Postby Gizmo2005 » Tue Mar 12, 2019 8:30 am

I almost have 60K on my 14 R52. I'm wondering if buying a $60 K&N Filter will be even noticeable. Right now, I'm having some issues with my car. So it jerks at 30mph and I'm getting about 18mpg combine. I'm looking for anything to help it run better, smoother, and more efficient.

Let me know your thoughts on it and if anyone has used them.

Are K&N filters worth it?

In a word. No.

Any oiled air filter like a K&N will have some oil go thru with the intake air.
Nissan Mass Airflow Sensors are not self cleaning and very expensive.

So you are almost guaranteed issues sooner or later...

I personally dont know much about R52s.. (some others here do) so I will have to wait until someone else chimes in and comments on your drivability/mpg issue.

Save your $60. It's not going to make an engine run smoother and it's probably the CVT transmission that's the problem, anyway, rather than the engine.
