well if u turn if off on a rainy day you can get it side ways :D did it to day in the round abouts its very fun. if you brake launch it turn the vdc off but for normal driving or when you are pushing it hard, leave it on especially on ice the vdc has saved my ass a couple of times on black ice. It works very well

I shut it off when I'm out in the dirt somewhere. I want 100% full control of the vehicle, and the VDC would otherwise kick in too often.

I'm with Steve. I usually only turn mine off off-road.

I mostly turn mine off because it seems to intervene too much for my tastes. Then again, I enjoy sliding my truck around so you can see my dilemma. My only wish is that there was a way to keep it off rather than having to do it everytime I start the vehicle.

The first time I took mine out on the beach I switched on the 4WD and I'm driving along hearing nothing but clunking, grinding and other bad noises. I was hugely dissapointed in the 4WD ability until I figured out I needed to turn off the VDC. Now the Pathy cuts through sand like it's hot butter. Better than my lifted Explorer ever did. No where have I found anything saying the VDC should be off in 4WD mode but in my experience it certainly needs to be.

As a side it should also be off for burn outs. :) Man this V8 can smoke some tires!
