Passenger Floor Carpet Soaked

Postby vatrumpet » Sun Jan 04, 2009 9:11 am

Hi all,

I have an 05 Pathfinder SE and my passenger floorboard is soaking wet. It looks like the problem was an almost completely clogged drain-end hose on the engine firewall. All of my A/C condensation was backed up into my cabin floorboard for who knows how long. So, I replaced the drain-end hose and that seems to have solved that problem which leads me to the next challenge...

I removed some of the trimmings around the carpet and have been able to get under there with towels to soak up the pooled water. That was successful; however, the problem now is that the foam that is under the passenger carpet is like a sponge and is soaked. Short of purchasing a new passenger side carpet, does anyone have any ideas on how to get the water out of the foam?

I would appreciate any help you all can offer...

When I sank my lifted 4x4 I used a shop vac to suck up the water. took about 10 times or more. Then I used a shampooer and steamed the carpets with soap. then used the shop vac again. carpet looked new when I was done.
