Can someone post the "procedure" for this. I have the FSM as a PDF but could not find a toubleshooting section and nothing about burping the radiator.blink32 wrote:Cheapest test is the free one following the service manual. Raise the front end, open the system, bring it up to temp and burp the system. Exact steps can be found in the troubleshooting section.
Thats bull$hit. Check your coolant level. My rear vents blew only cold air, until I topped off the cooling system a couple times. Good heat coming from there now, enough to defrost the windows.ravrunner wrote:I have an auto starter on my pathfinder but since no great heat pumps out while in idle it kinda sucks!
Anyone have this problem?
Also I have vents in the upper rear, I was told by the service guys that heat doesnt come out those vents just AC!
I find that hard to believe can anyone confirm this?
Thanks
Have a search over at nissanhelp.com and you'll see where the techs specifically post the process along with references. Otherwise:myriad46 wrote:Can someone post the "procedure" for this.
wouldn't the oil be a good indicator if the head gasket was shot? Just did an oil change (overdue by a bit too), and the oil was the picture of perfection.NVRDONE wrote:Having worked for a Nissan dealer I've seen a few pathfinders with leaking headgaskets & the coolant going out the tail pipe. Have the dealer do a hydrocarbon test - sniff the tail pipe. That will tell alot.
If you are hearing a hissing sound inside the car on shut off, the heater core could be leaking. Check under the pass side carpet for moisture.
I had the same exact problem with my 2005 pathfinder. Same hissing noise too. Dealer claimed it was an air pocket in the cooling system. They flushed and replaced the coolant. It worked for a bit, but started happening again. Also had problems with the air conditioning and leaks in the passenger side.G35TR wrote:Anyone know why I might be loosing hot air from the heater whenever I come to a complete stop (like at a red light) at idle? The air starts turning to cold, but as soon as I accelerate and the RPM's raise, the air goes back to normal hot air.
I took this in to the dealer as I had this problem 2 years ago. The work order said no problem found and the the cause was suspected as air pocket in the coolant line. Just mentioned that they topped the fluid off.
Also, I notice now that when I shut the truck off, I hear a a hiss that seems to last about 2 seconds as soon a the engine shuts off.
Any ideas?
I did ask him that and he really didnt give me a straight answer. So you have vents in the back and now that you burbed it you probably nice heat in the back correct?G35TR wrote:I would have asked the service guy what the purpose of the red marks on the rear temperature control knob were for then. I'd have loved to hear that answer!!ravrunner wrote:I was told by the service guys that heat doesnt come out those vents just AC!
