Heater issue

Postby collinb » Thu Dec 19, 2019 9:09 am

The heater works after about 3 miles of driving.
But after another mile or two the heat goes way.

Also, when idling there is no heat. Just cool air.

Notes:
I get fan air movement
Engine temp is normal.

Where should I begin diagnosing this?

"Burp the system"

With that said, it's been about 2 years and I still run into this issue occasionally. Going to try it the way the guy did it in the video above and see if I have better luck. Only difference is I'll raise the front of the vehicle while doing so.

So burping it gets the air out. But how does the air get in there to begin with? Another post here said it turned out it was a rad cap with a worn o ring that was letting air in. Changed out the cap and no more need to periodically burp it.
