Howdy from the OBX of NC

Postby Frizzbeegurl » Sun Feb 02, 2020 10:17 pm

Helloooooo.
We just purchased a 2012 Nissan Pathfinder Silver Edition 4WD, 99500 miles.
The thing is loaded.
It looks like it's had a very good record of service and only 2 owners.
What type of issues are coming up with this truck? Any tips on avoiding them or preventative maintenance (outside of the normal service maintenance).
TIA. I'm excited but nervous.. Just because I'm generally nervous about big purchases like this. Lol
Thanks y'all

The good things is that it's the last year of the R51 model line, which means all of the "buggs" have been worked out of it. At 105,000 miles, it'll be due for spark plugs and coolant service; you should have Nissan Blue long-life coolant and stick with NGK spark plugs (your OE plugs are NGK Laser Iridiums). The rear springs tend to be a bit on the soft side, causing the back end to bottom out of bumps or sag when loaded. If not already addressed, this can be fixed by either replacing the rear coils with Moog units or installing AirLift 1000 air bags. Many also replace the stock rear struts with Bilstein 4600's. For the auto trans, Valvoline Maxlife full-synthetic ATF works well and is much less expensive than the genuine Nissan ATF. Enjoy your Pathfinder!

Thank you so much for the insight! It seems like a solid vehicle. I'm really enjoying driving it.

Welcome!!
:D

PS: The 2012 , with the 2011, are acknowledged by most in the pathfinder community to be the most reliable model years of them all.
