Everybody's Favorite Game; Can it tow it?

Postby Redcliff » Wed Jan 08, 2020 7:57 am

Looking to get a Travel Trailer and this one is perfect, but want to make sure I can tow it comfortably. I have a 2012 Silver Edition with the V6 and already have the Airlift bags installed in the rear.
Here are the specs of the trailer:

Hitch Weight:450 lb.
GVWR:6000 lb.
UVW4458 lb.
CCC1542 lb.
Exterior Length:25' 10"
Exterior Height:10' 2"
Exterior Width:96"
DOUBLE AXLE

Thank you for any feeback[/url]

The trailer you mention is very similar to what I tow with my 05 Pathy. I have a 2008 Keystone Passport 280BH, which is:

Hitch Weight:415 lb.
GVWR:6050 lb.
UVW4615 lb.
CCC1435 lb.
Exterior Length:31' 5"
Exterior Height:10' 2"
Exterior Width:96"
DOUBLE AXLE

I would say the experience is generally good. High winds make it less good. I also pull in relatively flat prairie areas, no hills to speak of. I am not concerned about braking, and the pathy always seems to have the power to do what I need it to do. But I won't win any races, and generally keep speeds at or below 60MPH.

Thank you very much for the reply. Your Pathy is a V6, correct? Is there anything else needed besides airbags, weight-distributing hitch, and the 7-pin harness?

Yes, the V6 was the only engine option in 2005.

I have the Airlift 1000, and the 7 pin harness and brake controller, as well as a WDH. I've found if I crank the bars too much on the WDH, the experience gets much worse.

What brake controller are you using?

Looks like we're just going to go with a smaller trailer. But, I do have one more question; do I still need this brake jumper if I am using the 7-pin harness?

The jumper is for the brake controller if you are using the 7-pin trailer connector. You can either get the jumper and splice it to your controller's harness, or, you can skip the Nissan jumper and get a plug'n'play harness from the brake controller's manufacturer.

But not if the controller already has a terminal that fits, correct?
