Air Bag Replacement 1997

Postby dksellschicago » Mon Jun 15, 2020 10:18 am

Hey guys, I have a 97 and would like to replace the airbags. Obviously the driver side is not an issue, but I am unsure of how to go about this for the passenger side. Has anyone tackled this?

From what I read, you will have to drop the glove box compartment and should see the screws to swap them. I believe there are like 4 of them you will need to remover. Not sure where I read this but once the screws are removed you will need to put new ones in due to some coating on the screws. I still have both of them deployed on my 97 Path from my accident back in 2018, cannot find new impact sensors and timing sensor for my steering wheel.

See RS-10:

Once the glove box is out, there are 6 big screws (12mm heads as I recall) holding the bag to the steering crossmember. You're not supposed to re-use the screws, a new bag should come with new ones.
